The lives of Christians today face challenges in aligning their profession of faith with moral conduct in family life, ministry, and social relationships. This situation highlights the importance of revisiting Christian identity and the responsibility of Christian witness in light of biblical teaching. This study aims to analyze the meaning of the metaphors of salt and light in Matthew 5:13-15 and explain their relevance to the formation of Christian identity, moral integrity, and social responsibility. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research and hermeneutical-exegetical analysis. The data were obtained from the biblical text as the primary source, as well as biblical commentaries, scholarly journal articles, and relevant theological literature as secondary sources. The analysis examines the literary and historical context of the passage, interprets the theological significance of the salt and light metaphors, and develops practical reflections by connecting the exegetical findings with literature on contemporary moral challenges. The findings reveal three main dimensions of impactful Christian living. First, the identity of believers as the salt of the earth calls for a life consistent with Christian values and the ability to exert a positive influence on their surroundings. Second, the identity of believers as the light of the world emphasizes the responsibility to demonstrate truth through integrity, exemplary conduct, and concrete actions. Third, the image of a lamp placed on a stand highlights that Christian witness must be expressed openly in social life. This study affirms that Christian identity must be reflected in consistent daily practices. Its contribution lies in integrating the theological interpretation of Matthew 5:13-15 with ethical reflections on Christian identity, moral integrity, and social responsibility as foundations for faith formation and the development of the church’s pastoral practices.
